The Munsters is one of my all time favorite shows and I’m excited to hear that it’s being brought back, although as a remake. Director Bryan Fuller says “We want this show to be an American Harry Potter… To have that sense of a magical world that you get to go to with your family and find stories told in a fantastical way that are instantly relatable. It’s an American Horror Story that the whole family can watch.”

Of course, the original Munsters was far from being horrific. From Herman’s cooky head bolts and facial expressions to Grandpa’s crazy basement exploits, the show was pretty funny.

Portia de Rossi is going to play Lily Munster. This photo of Yvonne de Carlo and Portia de Rossi side by side gives a good idea of de Rossi’s potential likeness to the original character of Lily, albeit with some stage make up on. I can also see Portia quirking an eyebrow or two like Yvonne.

Mockingbird Lane - Remake of the Munsters

De Rossi will play alongside Jerry O’Connell as Herman, Eddie Izzard as Grandpa, Charity Wakefield as cousin Marilyn and Mason Cook as Eddie.

Audiences are assured that Mockingbird Lane will stay true to the original, but I’ll guess we’ll have to see. The remake will air on NBC.

Reading with Ringling Bros

Earn a circus ticket and visit with clowns

Kids, are you interested in reading some cool library books?  Are you interested in earning a circus ticket at the same time?  Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey and area libraries will be hosting some serious fun with Reading with Ringling Bros! beginning in June.  All branches of the Dallas Public Library System will be participating, along with many of the outlying suburban cities. The best part is that kids can earn a  Ringling Bros. circus ticket by simply reading their favorite picks from the library! The program is open to kids ages 2-12 and the librarian can get everything set up for your kids.  This unique library reading program will encourage children not only to read, but also to discover, dream and learn!

Reading with Ringling - Visit with Clowns

A Special Treat

Kelly, Slappy and Monday, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Ambassadors of Laughter will be visiting area libraries throughout June and July.  They will be bringing smiles and laughs to kids at more than 80 libraries in the Metroplex. Kelly, Slappy and Monday are no class clowns, but are certain to add amusement to a special 30-minute circus story time. The library events are free and open to the public.

For more information, visit www.ReadingwithRingling.com for a list of participating libraries.

With a little patience and creativity, you should be able to get your kids to brush their teeth in no time. Continue reading »
