In Home Danger: CPSC Warns of Children Drowning in Bathtubs, Bath Seats and Buckets
More than 400 deaths estimated over a five-year period

The danger of drowning for young children is ever present in and around the home. Drowning is the leading cause of unintentional death among children ages 1 to 4 years-old and it takes only a few inches of water for a young child to drown. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is urging parents and caregivers to look for and protect against drowning risks inside and around their homes.

A new CPSC report on in home drownings and non-fatal submersions in products such as bathtubs, buckets, bath seats, toilets, and landscaping features indicates that from 2006 to 2010, there were 684 incidents involving children younger than five-years-old. This figure includes 434 fatalities (an average of 87 per year), 233 injuries, and 17 incidents with no known injuries. Continue reading »

Pinkalicious the Musical - Dallas Children's Theater

Pink-A-Boo!  It’s the most pinkatastic show to hit Dallas / Ft Worth!

Dallas Children’s Theater (DCT) kicks off its 29th season in the pink with Pinkalicious the Musical, September 21 – October 21, 2012.

Pinkalicious the Musical is the sparkling stage adaptation of the popular children’s book, Pinkalicious, and a celebration of family and love.  Pinkalicious is a little girl who loves the color pink.  After overindulging in pink cupcakes one evening, she turns pink overnight.  When she wakes up the next morning, she is thrilled!  Her parents take her to the doctor and she is diagnosed with pinkititis – only the second case in history.  On the way home, they stop at the playground but her best friend Alison doesn’t recognize her and she is attacked by birds, butterflies and bees who mistake her for a pink flower.  At home her parents try to encourage her to eat more greens, but she sneaks another cupcake while no one is looking.  The next morning she wakes up red and develops pink eye pinkititis whereby she can only see the color pink.  Is she brave enough to do something to fix this predicament?

The Pinkerton family seems to have other secrets too – someone knows something about the first case of pinkititis….  And what is brother Peter afraid to admit?  In the end they all learn that you can have too much of a good thing, but when it comes to FAMILY there’s no such thing as too much LOVE!

Opening Night Pink-Out Party

Monsters Inc in 3D

Monsters Inc, one of Disney•Pixar’s most beloved and visually imaginative feature films ever, returns to the big screen to delight a whole new generation of audiences and fans alike, this time in stunning 3D!

The story is the same fun adventure, but this time, we get to see it in 3D! Set in Monstropolis, a thriving company town where monsters of all shapes and sizes live, Lovable Sulley (voiced by John Goodman) and his wisecracking best friend Mike Wazowski (voiced by Billy Crystal) are the top scare team at the scream-processing factory. The main power source in the monster world is the collected screams of human children—and at Monsters, Inc., an elite team of scarers is responsible for gathering those precious natural resources.

Believed by monsters to be toxic, children are strictly forbidden from entering Monstropolis. But when a little girl named Boo (voiced by Mary Gibbs) accidentally follows Sulley back into his world, he finds his career in jeopardy and his life in utter chaos. So pals Mike and Sulley plot to rectify the mistake and return Boo to her home. But when the trio encounters an unexpected series of complications, they become embroiled in a cover-up catapulting them into a mystery beyond their wildest dreams.

Rated G by the MPAA, the film is in theaters—again—January 18, 2013, and will be presented in Disney Digital 3D in select theaters.
