Guinness World Records Attempt on Halloween with 600+ DISD 9th Graders

Capital One is kicking off Techweek Dallas with a Guinness World Records attempt for the largest programming lesson. During the “Monster Coding Jam Session,” more than 600 ninth-grade DISD students from various NAF academies will learn the basics of app creation from 250 Capital One volunteers and get the chance to develop their very own “monster mash” gaming app. This monstrous event will give students hands-on experience in software development and problem solving, and introduce them to opportunities in the technology field.

The current record is 712, organized by the Lithuanian MEP Antanas Guoga, on September 9, 2016 in Vilnius, Lithuania. Emmy-award winning radio and TV talk show host Mario Armstrong will emcee the Monster Coding Jam.

WHEN: Monday, October 31, 2016, 10:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

  • 10:30: Students arrive
  • 11 am: Welcome remarks
  • 11:30 am-1:30 pm: Student monster app lesson
  • 1:30 pm: Announce record and closing remarks
