Pinkalicious the Musical - Dallas Children's Theater

Pink-A-Boo!  It’s the most pinkatastic show to hit Dallas / Ft Worth!

Dallas Children’s Theater (DCT) kicks off its 29th season in the pink with Pinkalicious the Musical, September 21 – October 21, 2012.

Pinkalicious the Musical is the sparkling stage adaptation of the popular children’s book, Pinkalicious, and a celebration of family and love.  Pinkalicious is a little girl who loves the color pink.  After overindulging in pink cupcakes one evening, she turns pink overnight.  When she wakes up the next morning, she is thrilled!  Her parents take her to the doctor and she is diagnosed with pinkititis – only the second case in history.  On the way home, they stop at the playground but her best friend Alison doesn’t recognize her and she is attacked by birds, butterflies and bees who mistake her for a pink flower.  At home her parents try to encourage her to eat more greens, but she sneaks another cupcake while no one is looking.  The next morning she wakes up red and develops pink eye pinkititis whereby she can only see the color pink.  Is she brave enough to do something to fix this predicament?

The Pinkerton family seems to have other secrets too – someone knows something about the first case of pinkititis….  And what is brother Peter afraid to admit?  In the end they all learn that you can have too much of a good thing, but when it comes to FAMILY there’s no such thing as too much LOVE!

Opening Night Pink-Out Party

Attend the show on Friday, September 21 for extra fun one hour prior to the show and at intermission.  Wear pink or your favorite color, eat yummy cupcakes donated by Sprinkles Cupcakes and enjoy coloring, compliments of Michaels Stores.  Get your own photo op with our version of Pinkalicious and even Flat Stanley!  Walk the pink carpet and learn some healthy lifestyles tips from our friends at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas and their mascot, Blue Bear.  Cupcake face-painting and a host of other activities.  Check out DCT’s costume design contest entries and meet the winners!  Great giveaways too, including one free show poster per family.  Totally Pinkatastic!

When Mufaro leaves for the hunt and the sisters are alone, Manyara is always angry, while Nyasha is positive and kind.  Chenzira, a messenger, brings word that the Great King is inviting all of the “Most Worthy and Beautiful Daughters in the Land to appear before him” so that he might choose his Queen.  Mufaro is very pleased that both of his daughters should be selected and agrees to accompany them at sunrise. That night, Manyara, believing herself better and prettier than her sister, sets out alone so that she can be presented to the king first. What will happen to each girl as she responds to hooting owls, enchanted trees laughing and the other strange beings they encounter along the way?
