Celebrate summer in The Dallas Arts District with their annual Summer Block Party
This event brings together Late Nights at the Dallas Museum of Art (1/2 Price), ‘til Midnight at the Nasher Sculpture Center (FREE), and Crow Collection After Dark (FREE) on the third Friday of the month. The party will spill out onto the streets with tasty treats and tons of fun along Flora & Harwood streets. Each of the three museums has several activities planned for the whole family. Come and make art from things we’ve found on the street! Make street art with artists from the MasterPEACE program of the organization 29 Pieces and with artists from The Stewpot.
7 – 10PM, Henna Art , Garden Gallery, Crow Collection
Mehndi is the application of henna as a temporary form of skin decoration and is typically applied during special occasions. Join in our Summer Block Party celebration with a henna design from mehndi artists.
7PM, Preview of Verdi’s Aida, Horchow Auditorium, DMA
Join Dr. Stephen Dubberly for a lively lecture on the history of Verdi’s beloved, tragic opera Aida followed by musical selections from the opera performed by The Dallas Opera featured artists.
7PM, People on Vacation, Nasher Sculpture Garden
The endeavor of Jaret Reddick (Bowling for Soup) and Ryan Hamilton (Smile Smile), the band brings together the worlds of pop/punk and indie/folk music.
10PM, Madison King, DMA Ceremonial Entrance
Enjoy a performance that blends blues, rock, and pop music with Dallas singer-songwriter Madison King. King was nominated by the Dallas Observer for two Music Awards in 2011, Best Solo Act and Best Female Vocalist.
